CLAWSA Internet Evening

The CLAWSA 'Internet Evening' was held to a capacity audience on 26th February 1997. Hosted by the Global Café in Golden Square, Soho, an animated atmosphere was promoted by generous helping of wine and food and the purpose of the evening was unfolded.

Members were given an insight into how the World Wide Web works, some recent developments and what opportunities there are for architects in this new communications medium. First through an on-line talk by a member of the Global Café expert team and then with hands-on experience of one the eleven terminals on hand, people were given the opportunity to experience first-hand what is 'out there'.

CLAWSA launched its web site at the event. The site is still in its infancy and acts primarily as a source of information for its members. New ideas for its future development are welcome.

We are grateful to Sarkpoint Reprographics for their generous sponsorship. Sarkpoint are capable of receiving drawings and images through the internet and can have copies of printed matter to other points around the world in a matter of hours. The issue of electronic-to-printed matter will be addressed at a further CLAWSA event.

David Wylie, CLAWSA president, introduces the Internet evening.

The evening gave people a chance to get their hands on internet terminals and find out what it is all about.

Food and wine was served in a congenial setting.

Ideas were discussed....

...and people got to grips with what is on offer out there.
