CLAWSA Student AwardThe Cities of London and Westminster Society of Architects is pleased to provide an award to RIBA students from the School of Architecture at Westminster University. Since 1999, the award had been given annually. The Awards:Two awards are made each year:
CLAWSA will give a financial award to both award winners. The amount of the award is reviewed periodically, however the award being granted in the summer of 2002 is £300.00 each to both the undergraduate and postgraduate student award winners. Criteria for the awards:Although CLAWSA do not seek in any way to influence the course work set by the staff of the University of Westminster, as a guide to the staff and students, the award panel will take the following into consideration when judging the award: Undergraduate: The judges are looking for the best all-round presentation of work in an undergraduate portfolio with a particular emphasis on experimentation in spatial syntax, presentation techniques and an understanding of the design process. Postgraduate: The judges are looking for the best project in the postgraduate course. All other things being equal, the judges will take into consideration project work in an urban context and in particular a project sited within Greater London. Eligibility for the awards:Students applying for the awards must fulfil the following criteria:
Judging the awards:CLAWSA reserve the right to change the judging procedure, but in the summer of 2002, CLAWSA intend the following: CLAWSA’s judging panel will be made up of members of CLAWSA’s committee plus, at CLAWSA’s discretion, one other judge. The staff at the University of Westminster will select a shortlist of students work for the judging panel of four students’ portfolios from the undergraduate course and four students’ projects from the postgraduate course. CLAWSA’s judging panel will attend the university at a time suitable for the University but within the week of the end-of-year show. In making their decision, the panel will judge both the portfolios, and the work presented in the show as appropriate. CLAWSA intention is to award a prize for both the undergraduate and postgraduate category, although CLAWSA reserve the right to use its discretion as to whether and how it places its awards. CLAWSA’s decision on the award is final. CLAWSA Committee, 6th February 2002. |
